by Colel Chabad: Tzfat will have a warm winter Sponsored
Under the auspices of the International “Colel Chabad”, the “Colel” in Tzfat initiated a special campaign aimed at assisting needy families with clothing, footwear, and heaters beginning the winter season in this city located at a high altitude and the exceedingly cold weather that comes with it. To the entire article.
Following a week of dry winds and a wave of fires leaving heavy damage, Israel has finally benefited from blessed rainfalls. Grateful farmers, wholeheartedly welcome this rain, which will lead to growth of crops in their fields. Children are jumping in the puddles with joy and the general atmosphere has become happier and more pleasant.
However, there are some for whom the rain brings less joy. These are needy families, whose children are still wearing the sandals purchased for them at the beginning of the summer, the coat brought for a child two years earlier is already small on him and throughout long nights the cold prevails in the homes that lack air conditioning and heaters or in those in which parents fear the view of “amount payable” slot on their oncoming electricity bill.
Being residents of Tzfat, the city located on a high altitude, thus considered the coldest city in Israel, their need for adequate clothing, shoes, boots and heating devices is significantly greater than in other locations. These issues are precisely what “Colel Chabad” activists concerned themselves with this week. Headed by Rabbi Shalom Duchman, who directs the International Colel Chabad, they launched a coupon distribution campaign, allowing recipeients of these coupons to purchase clothing, shoes, boots and coats. In a special circular sent to the educational institutes of the city, the director of the “Colel” in Tzfat, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Chitrik and Rabbi Yoram Mauda from the director’s board, the principals of the institutes were asked to report discreetly about any child arriving at school with clothing or footwear inappropriate for Tzfat weather, so that the family would receive the needed assistance with open arms yet in an respectable manner. In addition, families who apply to the “Colel” office, either personally or via the city welfare department are also assisted. In this way even in the freezing Tzfat, there would be a warm winter.
